New to WKBC?

Thanks for visiting our site!  Your visit is important to us. You are important to us. Whether you are looking to explore Christianity, seeking to grow in your faith, or searching for a new church home, we hope that you will find exactly what you are looking for at West Kingston Baptist Church.

Our goal is that you will have a comfortable and enjoyable experience as you get to know who we are and what we are all about. Hospitality is something on which we place a high value. We have a team of greeters and ushers available to answer any questions you may have. They’ll also point you in the right direction for all available classes and services throughout the building.

Our Service

Praising God in song is something we love to do, so we always begin our service with music. Worship is our heartbeat. We are blessed with a multi-generation Worship Team that will lead you in meaningful and up-to-date worship songs.

“I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart;

I will tell of all your wonders. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name,

O Most High.” Psalm 9:1-2

Next, we continue our worship time by bringing our cares, concerns, and thanks to God in prayer. After our prayer time, you will hear a clear and relevant message from the Bible designed to keep your interest and have a positive impact on your life.

Our service is usually about one hour and fifteen minutes in length.

Singles & Families

We have both. Our church has single men, women, moms and dads. Of course, we also have many families and lots of children and teens. You’ll find aunts, uncles, and a good number of grandparents. In a word, the best way to describe our church is: family. When we come together each Sunday, it’s like a huge family reunion. It’s wonderful!

Students

Without a doubt, a college campus is a very challenging place for a student to live out his or her faith in Jesus. It’s best not to do it alone. West Kingston Baptist Church has many college students who get together weekly to pray, learn from the Bible, encourage each other, and simply have fun.

Baptist?

Yes, our church does have the word “Baptist” in its name. We’ve been known as West Kingston Baptist Church for over a century and we really like our name. Relax, you don’t have to be Baptist or even know what the word means to attend our classes, activities, or services. Basically, we believe that the Bible teaches that once a person comes to faith in Jesus, he or she should be baptized. Simple as that.

Vision

Individually and as a church body, we are pursuing three areas of Christian growth:

Deepening our Worship

Gracefully Gaining Knowledge

Intentionally Impacting our Community

God is worthy of our worship. Our desire is to honor, praise, and give him glory. As the Holy Spirit leads, we are focused on going deeper than we ever have into worshipping our amazing God.

He also desires us to learn more about his grace and truth. And why not? The Bible contains everything that we need to know to live a joyful and abundant life. Gaining a better grasp of the Word of God is a priority for us.

As we worship and learn more about God, our hearts are bursting with a love for his Son, Jesus Christ. What could be more natural than sharing that love in word and deed with those in our community?

Drawing closer to God. That’s really what we want. We want to press on until we really know the Lord.

“So let us know,

let us press on to know the Lord.”

Hosea 6:3
